CBD Options and Dosing Methods
There are so many options for CBD these days- oils, lotions, capsules, gummies, tablets and more.
How on Earth do you decide how to take it?
How do you even take it?
Moon Age is here to help. Using CBD is a personal choice, but our community is here to help you with each step.
Our community has many options for how to use CBD, all with different benefits for you. We partnered together to gather the information in one place. By learning about the different ways to take CBD, you can see which option is best for you. Let’s work together to illuminate the path to your ‘right’ CBD treatment.
1. CBD Oil
This is the most standard technique for CBD that comes to mind. As there is not an official recommendation for a serving size from the FDA yet, you can determine the right amount to take by considering a few options:
- Concentration of the CBD oil
- Your body weight and chemistry
- The particular condition you want to treat/relieve
Remember ~ One size does not fit all.
There is no exact serving size yet. However, we can work together to figure out the recommended dosage for you.
Oils typically come with tinctures (little droppers) to carefully measure the amount you take. With this in mind, it is recommended to start small.
Start with 1-4 drops. This allows you to evaluate how your body reacts to that amount and make adjustments from there. 4 drops is approximately equal to 20 milligrams, a common dosage.
But how do you actually take the oil? The simple steps are below.
Carefully place the dropper under your tongue, about half full.
Count the number of drops* as you gently squeeze the top of the dropper.
*Remember ~ 1- 4 drops is a good starting point.
Hold the oil under your tongue for 30 - 90 seconds. After, you can either swallow the oil or swish it around your mouth and then swallow.
And there you have it - That’s the simplest way to take CBD oil.
2. Tonics, Powders, Capsules, Edibles, and Tablets
All of these CBD products are ingested through the mouth. “Edibles” is simply a term for food containing CBD- gummies, brownies, candies, etc. These products are among the slowest routes for CBD to enter your system, effects can last for 1- 6 hours.
Dissolvable Tablets generally work the fastest as the CBD is delivered sublingually.
To take Capsules, swallow the recommended number of pills with water. For Edibles, simply make sure you eat the recommended amount or, discuss how much you should consume with a doctor or professional. To take Tonics or Powders, speak with a professional to know what amount you should be using.
3. Inhalation/Vaping
That’s right - vaping. Inhalation can be done in numerous ways, with the most common being vaping. You are able to feel effects within 10 minutes, but the efficacy length varies. To vape CBD, purchase an approved capsule and place it in a vape pen. You can also put drops of oil into a water vapor capsule and vape it.
4. Topical Creams and Lotions
These are helpful for pain or aching muscles. After a long day of kicking butt at work, sitting in traffic, or spending time with family, your body might be sore. These CBD lotions and creams can help ease the pain.
Simply spread the cream or lotion on the sore area, rubbing it into your skin.
These are the main ways our community utilizes CBD.
